On behalf of the brothers and sisters of Local Union 488 IBEW, I would like to welcome you to our website. IBEW Local 488, Bridgeport, received its charter April 1, 1913, with nineteen original members. For over 100 years, Local 488 has provided the cities and towns of northwestern and southwestern Connecticut with a highly trained workforce. With a mission to create and ensure a workplace that provides safety, fairness and dignity for all our members, we stand for the ideals that have made America the great nation that it is today: democracy, equal opportunities and a chance to live the American dream. Sisters and Brothers, I have the unfortunate task of informing you that our Brother and my friend Assistant Business Manager Tony Soter passed away last night. Tony was a dedicated member of this Local and the IBEW, he always had the best interest of both in everything he did. He will be sorely missed and we pray for his family and friends as we all grieve together over this tremendous loss. Tony was a member of Local 488 for 33 years and was active in the Local for most of his career. The union offices are now open to limited foot traffic.  One person at a time, Masks are required, temperature will be taken, and hand sanitizer will be available for use.
